Looking back over the last month on the bike since my last blog it has been a enjoyable time consistently training, and having all round good weather at home to race/train in. Although the Spanish roads are great, and there is plenty of climbing to do. Theres still no better place to ride a bike than Wales.

At the very start of this month I was racing probably one of the biggest races I've ever had the opportunity to do. GP Abimota in Portugal. Riding with the Conti teams and my first time experiencing a professional stage race. Unfortunately struggling with the sudden increase in temperature I was forced to abandon with heatstroke like symptoms.

It wasn't the best way to exit that period in Spain. It was a tough two months with picking up an illness right in the middle that stopped my progression and left my fitness lower than where it should've been.

Luckily enough I had races lined up for when I returned home so there was still goals to work towards and races to look forward to. I gave myself time to recover when coming back and then got into it. I managed to sneak in my first 10TT of the year clocking 19:54 which is something I would like to work on for the future to see how far I can take myself.

Towards the end of June was the Marches 3-day. A great event hosted in the West Midlands with a Friday night crit, Saturday morning TT followed by a road race, and a Sunday road race. I was consistent throughout the whole race being close to the pointy end, but missing the breakthrough moment. The race craft needed a bit of polishing off after not racing for myself for a little while, but overall having good sensations in the legs and wanting more. I managed to finish 14th overall tied on the same time for 12th after the 3 days of racing. I was glad to get 3 consecutive days of racing in the legs for some stage racing lined up in Spain to finish out the season.

From starting racing early doors in February it seems like a long time ago, but in a blink of an eye its already half way through the season. Im hoping I can build on what I've put into the legs for the first half, and achieve some better results in the second part.

A massive thank you to all the people that keep me on the road every month and allow me to race and train. As always thanks to Pedal Potential for supporting these blogs.
