An End to 2023.

So my 2023 racing season has drawn to a close, i did my last two races as a junior in Spain with the Vuelta Talavera first followed by La challenge subbetica, both hilly afairs, both three day stage races with Subbetica being the worst!

I got round in Talavera but it wasn't enjoyable, Subbetica was a waste of time if I'm honest, far too hilly for me even if I'd been on top form, but to add to the misery i had a cold again!

It’s felt like I haven’t been able to catch a break this year, with so many bouts of illness and injuries which messed up my plans.

I simply haven’t done enough racing, and I haven’t had enough consistency of high performances which has then not given me the opportunity to gain some results, obviously my knee injury has caused the biggest problems but at least that's settled down now, but it's been a case of three steps forward, two steps back all year, constantly on the back foot and playing catch up, pretty depressing and you get to thinking is it all really worth it as it's been no fun at all this season.

But on the plus side my Spanish adventures over the last two summers have been great, although the races have been hard it's the experience and memories I have that has made it all worth while, the team were amazing and a great bunch of lads to race with.

I'm currently having a break, hopefully get back fully healthy before starting winter training, as I head into the under 23 ranks next year, not sure what lies ahead yet, the UK road race scene is in a bit of a poor state at the moment and offers little reward for U23 riders, fingers crossed I'll be making some trips abroad.
