One last dance.

My last race in Spain was the Vuelta Ciclista á Talavera, 4 days, 5 stage race.
Day 1 started well, I got away in a small group 2nd time up the main climb on the circuit, we would eventually get caught by the charging bunch which led to all hell breaking loose, I've never seen so many crashes happen, the race got stopped for over 45 minutes to sort out all the injured, it was a relief just to finish unscathed!
Day 2 was pretty much the same, carnage everywhere, I spent most of the stage chasing back after being held up multiple times, burnt out by the time we finished.
Day 3 would be 2 stages, a mountain TT first in the morning, that went ok but very hard, the afternoon stage was like a Belgian kermesse with a hill in it, not much to say as it was a total blur!
Day 4 was the Queen stage, a 70 miler which firstly went up the hill used in yesterday's TT, then onto a huge mountain that would be used in La Vuelta a week later, I got away early with another rider, we got about a minute gap, I knew this stage would be brutal, and it was, we had a plan to try and nab the climbers jersey, our two climbers bridged over to me and I set them up nicely to the start of the mountain, my job was done, they took all the points but it wasn't quite enough to grab the jersey, we gave it a good go but that's part of the fun.
So that was my summer racing in Spain, a fantastic experience with a great team, so much learnt with the different style of racing, a couple of missed opportunities and mistakes but overall a great time.
Thanks go to everyone who helped and made this trip possible.
Muchas Gracias
